Future Innovators in Tech and Engineering (FITE) Camp

If you have a knack for solving complex problems by using both your hands and imagination and are curious about STEM careers, we have the perfect program for you! You’ll unlock the bounds of your imagination through exercises that will enhance your abilities as a creative thinker. 

Solve Real World Challenges

National Grid is partnering with SUNY Buffalo State to offer the Future Innovators in Tech and Engineering program. Our instructors include experts from our Engineering Technology Department and the International Center for Studies in Creativity, as well as staff from National Grid. You'll be introduced to careers in electrical and engineering technology, and experience our state of the art Smart Grid laboratory.  You and your team will solve real world challenges presented by our partners at National Grid, and your teams will share their solutions with them at the conclusion of the program.

Cost

The cost of program attendance is fully covered for each participant, thanks to sponsorship by National Grid.

There is a separate application fee of $50*

*If participating student qualifies for free or reduced lunch, please email Cecilia Pershyn for a discount on their application fee.

Applying

  • This experience is open to students in 10th and 11th grade.
  • Applicants are required to identify a teacher or counselor who supports their application. 
  • Students must submit a statement as to why they wish to attend the program. 
  • Pay the $50 application fee*.
  • We are especially interested in female and ethnic minority students currently underrepresented in STEM, and welcome their applications.
